A weekly in person acting class with a fresh approach to actor training and practice. Exploring the craft of screen acting, we will be working with a host of techniques through current film & TV scripts. Working in 4 weekly blocks, you will be cast specifically and work on new scene each month. Our mission is creating a safe space to explore your work with industry guest drop ins. This class is an on camera scene study with a focus on finding your centre and getting out of your own way. There is no hierarchy, no acting gurus, artists are instead encouraged to feed into the sessions and support one another. This is an acting practice, and acting community, and acting opportunity.

Once we have received your application, you will be invited to a 1 x two hour class each week on a Monday evening. Class times are between: 17:00 - 19:00 & 19:30 - 21:30.

Fees:
The cost for a two hour session is £20.50. A fee of £82 is payable in advance every four weeks. A 10% Discount is available for a full term booking.

HULL TRUCK THEATRE // WITH TUTORS - MICHAEL KINSEY, SAMUEL HERON, FILM DIRECTOR - JORDAN DEAN & CASTING ASSISTANT - TARA MCKEOWN
A two day intensive workshop for teenagers looking to break into TV & film. Led by industry professionals and casting director observation - patron, Tara Mckeown - we will explore screen acting through confidence building exercises and games, scene study, character work, introduction to actor techniques and mindset. An opportunity to gain industry intel and prepare for self taping, auditioning and handling that pressure in a fun, safe and interactive space. Self-tape introduction and parental permission is essential to secure a spot.

COMING OCTOBER 2025
A four Day intensive for first time filmmakers. This is for anybody interested in making film - whether you're a writer, director, actor or straight up film fanatic. Anyone with a smartphone can shoot a film. In just four days you will write, shoot, edit and screen a film as part of Unthinkable Film Festival. Working in small teams using tech assistance and equipment, you will turn your smartphone into a camera using the revered Black Magic App. Each group will be working with experienced mentors and have the opportunity to work with skilled actors.
Day 1: You’ll be taken through the writing process learning about character, structure and plot by a leading industry screen writer.
Day 2: Workshops on directing, the golden rules of filmmaking, turning your phone into a camera and rehearsal.
Day 3: Shooting the film on location with actors.
Day 4: You will learn how to sharpen your story through the editing and grading process before finally sitting back and watching your work on the big screen.
Smartphone equipment prizes worth £200 up for grabs for the best film which will be judged by our panel of industry guests. Supporting grassroots filmmaking and breaking barriers through collaboration and community.

Part of our mission is making these practices accessible to those who might have difficulty funding such an opportunity. We want to help talent from all backgrounds. Lack of funds should never deter a creative. In turn, we have created SAEY scholarships for the programmes created. There will be limited scholarship spaces available.

Meet the Team

Michael Kinsey
CO-FOUNDER / FACILITATOR
Screen actor best known for playing Codge in Three Day Millionaire; with its extensive theatre release and charting No. 5 on Netflix. Mike creates and facilitates the screen acting courses.
Alumni of Italia Conti and the renowned National Youth Theatre Rep Company, Mike since returned to NYT to help assist their programmes. More recently he founded the production company, Dandelion Productions, with screen writer Paul Stephenson.
Alongside acting, Mike has for some years been a yoga teacher, acting facilitator as well as a 1:1 acting coach.

LAURA PETERSON
CO-FOUNDER / ADMINISTRATION
An actor, yoga and mindfulness facilitator who has focused her study in the field of mind body connection.
Laura trained as an actor at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in NYC - ‘Growth as an actor and as a human being are synonymous’. Many years spent working in the theatre & film, Laura has also trained and worked as a yoga teacher and has remained in the study of movement, breathwork and mindful practices.
Her work here is all things behind the scenes and working with the team to create and build programmes.

JORDAN DEAN
FILM DIRECTOR
Jordan is an award winning film director whose films have been screened internationally on the festival circuit.
Jordan received training at Pinewood Studios learning from industry professionals Terry Bamber, Iain Smith and Chris Kenny. Jordan has directed multiple award winning short films, national TV commercials for theatre as well as directing the camera team for Sunset Boulevard at Home and The Color Purple at Home.
His work at SAEY is to facilitate the technical aspects of the course as well as working closely with the actors to give an insight as to how their relationship with a director works.
